A Dream Realized: Unforgettable Moments from Our Turkey Adventure ~VV Shareef

Our recent Turkey trip, organized by Epic Journeys, was an unforgettable experience for both me and my wife. Turkey has always been close to our hearts, and finally visiting this beautiful country was a dream come true. We arrived in Istanbul in the afternoon, warmly greeted by our English-speaking guide. From there, we headed to Bursa, known for its deep Ottoman roots. Our visit to the Ulucami (Grand Mosque) was a serene experience, and seeing the Tombs of Osman and Orhan Gazi at Tophane Hill, surrounded by the breathtaking views of Bursa, brought history to life.

One of the most memorable parts of our journey was exploring the ancient city of Ephesus. The grandeur of the Library of Celcius, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Theatre made us feel like we were stepping back in time. The scale and preservation of the ruins were awe-inspiring. Our next stop was Pamukkale, where the famous Cotton Castle stunned us with its white terraces and mineral-rich hot springs.

Cappadocia, however, was the standout for its otherworldly landscapes. We explored the Natural Fortress in Uchisar and the Underground City, a labyrinth of tunnels and rooms carved into the soft volcanic rock. The valleys of Goreme, with ancient Christian churches hidden in rock formations, felt almost magical. One of the simpler joys of Cappadocia was visiting the pottery town of Avanos. Watching the craftsmen use clay from the Kizilirmak River, which has been a tradition for centuries, was a wonderful cultural experience.

Finally, we returned to Istanbul, where we immersed ourselves in its rich history. The Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia were as majestic as we had imagined. One of the most unforgettable moments of the trip was performing Friday prayers at Hagia Sophia. Standing in such a historic and sacred place, surrounded by centuries of rich history, was deeply moving. The sense of reverence and awe in the air, combined with the sheer beauty of the mosque’s architecture, left a lasting impression that we will cherish forever. We ended the day with a serene Bosphorus cruise, taking in Istanbul’s skyline from the water.

Looking back, this Turkey travel package was impeccably organized. From the comfort of the journey to the careful planning of each stop, everything was smooth and hassle-free. The highlights—praying at Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus cruise—made the trip even more special. We are incredibly grateful to Epic Journeys for making this Turkey tour memorable.
